Midland Commons

Midland Commons is an 88-acre development located on the corner of the eastern gateway to Columbus where US Highway 80 & Georgia 85, connecting multiple nearby bedroom communities to Columbus. This convergence of two major highways create a plethora of opportunities for retail, restaurant, and service retail businesses. Formerly the location of the Swift Denim Boland Plant, Midland Commons will be the home to an enclave of: retail shops and residential over retail condos, restaurants ranging from quick service to fine dining, service industry users, and more.

Immediate Area Demographics – 2022

Midland Commons is located at the intersection of JR Allen Parkway & Manchester Expressway which offer a direct route to Columbus from nearby bedroom communities such as Upatoi, Waverly Hall, Ellerslie, Box Springs, etc. The 48,000+ SF Publix Supermarket at the Grocery Tract area of the development is expected to be a major attractor for residents living in those communities in addition to those in the immediate surrounding area.

The Midland area of Columbus has experienced very consistent growth over the past decade with new developments in both commercial and residential markets. Commercial growth includes the most recent expansion of Pratt & Whitney which saw the addition of 500+ new jobs, the addition of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, along with AFLAC Insurance, FedEx Distribution Center, Global Payment Solutions/TSYS, and Path-Tec at Muscogee Technology Park. This commercial growth, working in conjunction with the new residential growth, continues to increase the current traffic counts of 70,000+ cars per day at the intersection of US 80 & GA 85 resulting in increasing demand for more retail services.

Plans are in place to offer an on-site Dog Park to become part of the nature trail as it borders a natural stream which flows through a stand of mature trees practically serving as a buffer from the retail & residential areas of Midland Commons. At the heart of the development, between the two “L” shaped buildings in the Lifestyle Center there will be a stage with a green space providing out-door seating for live performances. Behind the green space will be a courtyard area including a fountain and additional outside seating utilized by restaurants in the bordering “L” shaped buildings.

Midland Commons is incorporating into the overall master plan an access point on the western boundary to the Columbus Rails to Trails. This allows customers & residents a green way to travel from Midland Commons to the Columbus River Walk, Columbus State University’s Campus, Downtown Columbus, among other destinations, and back to the development.
